We demonize Trump supporters in a way that absolves us from ever having to have hard conversations with our friends, family, and coworkers. On the Internet, we use the blanket term Nazis to describe the right wing, but in private, we are having dinner with these people. We are on zoom calls with these people. We are going to the movies with them. And we do so having placed aside our political differences in exchange for comfort. But just because we ignore it it doesn't mean the animosity dissipates. In fact, if left to fester, it defines a new target. And that's why so many people are spending incredible amount of time and energy attacking a very small faction on the left who have either decided not to vote vote third-party or begrudgingly vote for the Democratic nominee while maintaining loud criticism of their tactics.
